Color Fields; 2024
Color Fields explores rural farmlands as visual abstraction, while at the same time being influenced by archaic cathedrals. This exhibition references the feeling of euphoria when in the presence of these two very different places.
Color field paintings are characterized by large fields of flat, solid color that is spread or stained across the canvas. With this style of painting, color is freed from context and becomes the subject itself.
This installation pays homage to historical practices that are less illuminated as the culture becomes ever more technological and old traditions become obsolete.
